The Barbara Krames-Cohen Undergraduate Scholarship
The Barbara Krames Cohen Undergraduate Scholarship is established in Barbara Krames Cohen’s memory to assist
talented and deserving students at CCNY’s School of Education.
The scholarship will provide annual scholarship awards to students in need of financial assistance, and primarily to
students in the School of Education who are committed to teaching at the K-12 level in a school district located in
an urban area.
Preference for individuals who have a stated desire to teach in a Public Elementary School in an urban environment; are
the first member of their family to attend college, and/or have a demonstrated interest or ability in one of the creative or
performing arts.
Barbara Cohen believed that all people should be treated with dignity and respect regardless of their religion, national origin,
ancestry, gender, or race. Candidates must submit an essay demonstrating their shared interest and commitment to this ideal
(250-500 words).
Criteria:
- Must be matriculated in an undergraduate degree-granting program
- Be in good academic standing
- Demonstrate financial need
- Demonstrate good character
