Sanford Cohen

Sanford Cohen was a distinguished engineer and internationally respected expert in guidance technology. An alumnus of CCNY, he went on to earn a Master’s degree in Aeronautics and Astronautics Engineering from MIT. His professional legacy was defined by his leadership at the Charles Stark Draper Laboratory and his later work as a consultant for the Navy. Sanford’s significant contributions to the science of navigation were formally recognized when he was honored with the Thomas L. Thurlow Navigational Award.

Beyond his professional accolades, he was known for his sharp wit, intelligence, and a deep sense of generosity. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who was admired by all for his tireless work ethic and commitment to his family. His philanthropic work is currently managed by his daughters Deborah Cohen and Lisa Cohen Russman.
