Barbara Krames Cohen

Barbara Krames Cohen was a woman of great elegance and kindness who dedicated her life to education and the arts. A graduate of both CCNY and Boston University, she shared 54 years of marriage with Sanford. Barbara’s professional life was spent as an elementary school teacher, where she touched the lives of many young students. Her creativity flourished through her work as a gifted sculptor, and she was known as an avid reader with a deep passion for progressive social causes.

As a mother and grandmother, she was the heart of her family, remembered for her beauty of character and her unwavering devotion to those she loved. Together, the Cohens left a legacy of intellectual curiosity and community service. Her philanthropic work is currently managed by her daughters Deborah Cohen and Lisa Cohen Russman.
