The Marilyn Sternglass Awards in Language and Literacy (Writing Award)

Presented to a CCNY English Department matriculated graduate student (who enrolled in English Dept. course(s) in Fall 2024 and/or Spring 2025) for an essay, report, or story submitted for credit in a Language and Literacy MA graduate course during any 2023, 2024 or 2025 semester. The writing submitted should not include the student’s name, an instructor’s comments or an instructor’s grade.

Light copyediting is permitted.

The manuscript title and the name of the award sought must appear on each manuscript’s first page. With the exception of the Goodman Fund Grant entries, All manuscripts must be submitted without the name of the author anywhere on the manuscript. All manuscripts must be double-spaced (poetry may be single-spaced) and typed in a standard font such as Times New Roman.

Each entry must include a separate document containing the following information:

• Name
• Full Address (including zip code)
• Telephone Number(s)
• I.D. Number (CUNYFirst EMPLID)
• E-Mail Address
• Name of Award
• Title of the Manuscript
