The David Dortort Prize in Creative Writing
The Dejur & Dortort prizes require submission of a significant manuscript. Students submitting in more than one genre will need to submit separate manuscripts.

The Dortort Prize requires a submission of a significant manuscript:
- A minimum of 80 pages for non-fiction.
Excerpt from a novel is accepted.
Students may enter as many contests as they wish; however, each contest requires its own unique entry. The same manuscript cannot be submitted for more than one award. In addition, multiple entries for a single award are not permitted:
one manuscript for each award.
The manuscript title and the name of the award sought must appear on each manuscript’s first page. With the exception of the Goodman Fund Grant entries, All manuscripts must be submitted without the name of the author anywhere on the manuscript. All manuscripts must be double-spaced (poetry may be single-spaced) and typed in a standard font such as Times New Roman.
Each entry must include a separate document containing the following information:
- Name
- Full Address (including zip code)
- Telephone Number(s)
- I.D. Number (CUNYFirst EMPLID)
- E-Mail Address
- Name of Award
- Title of the Manuscript
- Award
