Eugene Bellin Award

The Eugene Bellin Award is for a documented record of activity on behalf of social justice. Bellin’s life exemplified the values of the Center for Worker Education. He was the son of Jewish immigrants who fled the Czar. After serving as a Tech Sergeant in Europe during WWII, he attended CUNY, graduating with a BA degree. Marrying Judith Schryver in NYC, whose family had fled the Nazi occupation of Holland, Eugene Bellin remained deeply involved in struggles for worker and civil rights, and against war, during the rest of his life.
