Established by his son, Mr. Benardo, this scholarship honors the memory of the late Leo Benardo (’47). A first-generation college student, Leo graduated second in his class and was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa at just 19 years old. He went on to build a distinguished career in public education, frequently citing CCNY as the foundation of his success. Today, the Leo Benardo Scholarship carries his legacy forward by supporting students who embody his extraordinary dedication to learning and achievement while navigating challenging circumstances.
